- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 1-2 years Med/Surg experience preferred 2. Cases: Neurological disorders (Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord), post-operative neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, Laminectomy, Spinal Fusion, seizures; step-down/telemetry and bariatric patients also included 3. Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; NIHSS required — pending okay but must obtain prior to start 4. License: Michigan RN license required 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: EPIC experience; Pyxis also utilized 7. Shifts/Call: Night shift ratios 1:5-6; no LPN on nights; charge is free when fully staffed (5 RNs), but takes 3 pts with 4 RNs and 6 pts with 3 nurses; every other weekend required; may float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms; 36 or 48 hour weeks available — preference must be noted in submittal; holidays are required 8.
