- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years preferred; first-time travelers accepted 2. Cases: All typical adult med/surg diagnoses including DM, renal disease, HTN, CAD, stroke, chest pain, AMS; all patients eligible for telemetry monitoring via monitor techs 3. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred; skills include Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Insulin, Rapid Response, and numerous additional clinical skills listed 4. License: SC RN License or Compact license must be in hand prior to start; candidates with pending license considered if proof of application or SC walk-through process confirmed; traveler will not be cleared until SC license is active 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required 7. Shifts/Call: 4x12s, Days 7a-7:30p; on-call required PRN low census; every other weekend required; facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; float required to med/surg units 8. RTO: All RTO must be submitted at time of submission; RTO after submission not accepted; auto-offer eligible if 7 days or fewer of non-holiday RTO; 7+ days or holidays require facility approval; one pre-approved RTO per contract 9. Returning Staff: Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from MUSC system for 1 year before returning as a traveler; former manager name should be noted 10. Travel/Local: 60-mile radius; no locals accepted; MUSC prioritizes non-local candidates 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Non-billable; average 4 hours; included in NBO hours; completed pre-start; reported by facility 13. Travel Experience: Not required 14. Scrubs: Royal Blue 15. Flu Vaccine: Required — Medical/Religious exemptions only; COVID-19 vaccine not required 16. Special Equipment: Telemedicine — instruction will be provided Critical: Labs must be completed within 72 hours of signing if within 90 days of start, or at least 2 weeks prior to hard doc due date. If traveler has vacation planned during compliance process, all labs must be completed prior to departure. SSN required to submit. Only one MUSC unit/campus submission at a time; note top choice if multiple IDs submitted. During hurricane season (June-November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak months are August and September.
