- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 1.5 years of Med Surg experience required; first-timers not accepted 2. Cases: ED boarders, bedded OP, PACU boarders, and Obs patients; diagnoses include sepsis, kidney disease, trauma, hyper/hypoglycemia, hypertension, CHF, pneumonia, UTI, cellulitis, fractures, liver disease, altered mental status, sickle cell vaso-occlusive crisis, pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism, DVT, and electrolyte imbalances 3. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred; must be AHA or American Red Cross (implied by AHA standard) 4. License: South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact State RN License required; SC is a walk-through state; MUSC prioritizes candidates with SC license in hand; pending license considered with proof of application; traveler will not be cleared until SC license is issued/active 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required 7. Shifts/Call: 7A-7:30P rotating shifts; every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month; holiday rotation required; 12 weekend shifts per 13-week contract; facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; ratios 1:5 8. RTO: RTO due at time of submission; RTO after submission not accepted; auto-offer allowed for 7 days or less of non-holiday RTO; 7+ days or holiday RTO requires facility approval; block schedule requires manager approval dependent on unit needs; two pre-approved time off slots noted 9.
