- Unit Notes:Department: MedSurg | Neuro ortho/spine/stroke experience is good but neuro (aka a unicorn) is a plus! - Unit: Medical Surgical Boise Hospital Flr 9 - Neuro - # of Beds: 34 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 - Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Neuro: stroke, spine/back surgeries, cranial surgeries (usually don't give to travelers), neck, medical neuro disorders, neuro intervention procedures, Guillain Barre, Myasthenia Gravis, seizures, EEG monitoring. Any surgery accessing the nerves. Average pt length of stay 2-5 days. Neuroscience NPs staff 24/7 provide support for all neuro surg and neuro intervention pts. Serve a big geographic areas- is only site for neuro surgery. - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have 2 years of experience with solid MedSurg or Tele background with preferred stroke experience. Ok with first time traveler. - Are RNs required to titrate drips: no - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: N/A - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge RN, no assignment. House Sup supports whole Boise Hospital. 2 Assistant Managers on nights and 1 on days available. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: CNAs 1:8. - RT Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, Trachs. RT available as a resource. - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Not yet, will be getting tele monitors summer 2024. Workflow still being determined Philips. - Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7. Managers do schedule. Travelers will be filled in where there is a need. Do try to keep nights at 3 in a row (not guaranteed)- but primarily do staffing to ensure needs are met. - Weekend Requirement: If there is a need - Holiday Requirement: If there is a need - Is there Call or a Standby requirement: No - Floating Requirements: Yes, float to support all Treasure Valley Med-Surg areas. Travelers are first to float. - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: No specific color as long as clean and professional. - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: Yes; 2 days +didactic day with unit based educator. **This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles. To ensure adherence to this rule, we will require the candidates' perm address in the submittal to confirm they are outside of that specified radius before proceeding with the profile review.** Date Entered On: 3/26/2024 Cancellation Policy:Four (4) shift cancellations per 13-week assignment.
