  • Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 3 years preferred. Must have experience with facilities performing more than 300 births per month. Double labor assignments are a daily occurrence. 2. Cases: Obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care. Includes obstetrical triage, antenatal fetal surveillance, IV hydration, medication administration, scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births, and rescue cervical cerclage. OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests) required. Infant/Neonatal Arrest required. 3. Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and AWHONN Advanced required. C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN. 4. License: NC or Compact license pending is OK for submittal. 5. Education: Not specified. 6. EMR: Epic required; also uses PYXIS and SBAR. 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights, 18:45-07:15. No call requirement. Float required as needed within women's unit (SMC High Risk OB). Every other weekend required; minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. No block scheduling. Contracts accepted for 13-26 weeks. 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto-approved (no holidays). Must work 2 of 3 major holidays. No RTO during first week. All RTO must be pre-approved. Cannot request additional RTO after signing. Any call-offs or additional RTO could result in cancellation and DNR. 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (permanent, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before applying. Disclosure required with hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed. Current travel per diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts and must choose one; status and intent must be included in the submission. 10. Travel/Local: 50-mile radius applies; local candidates accepted at a lower rate. Travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed. 11. Background: Not explicitly stated. 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable and must be completed before start date and annually (varies by specialty). Acute Care: approximately 8-10 hours. Non-Acute: approximately 4-5 hours. Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted but should have experience in a large, high-volume similar setting. 14. Scrubs: Provided by facility (blue). 15. Flu Vaccine: Required; medical and religious exemptions only. 16. Special Equipment: Experience with OCT required. Infant/Neonatal Arrest experience required. Must have experience with facilities performing more than 300 births per month. Critical: Candidate must go into the lab within 48 hours after signing, and all testing must be completed within 48 hours. References can be pending at submission. Strongly prefer RN with circulate to OR experience. Ratios are 2:1 days, nights, and weekends with an average of 20 births in 24 hours and 30-40 admits per day.
