- Unit Notes:Department: ER RN *Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (ENPC encouraged but not required)* **Local Rate: Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility. Client rates reduced by $8.00/hour.** - Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center?: Adult and Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center. STEMI receiving and Stroke center - # Beds/Trauma Bay: 38 bed unit combined Emergency and Urgent Care. 5 trauma bays/resuscitation rooms - Do you have a Fast Track: No, we have an Urgent Care - Do you have a separate Triage area? If so, do you allow/require travelers to do Triage?: We have two triage bays located behind our registration desk for patients who walk into our department. All nurses are expected to triage patients coming in from ambulances as well. Travelers are expected to do triage. - Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER?: No separate area, ER holds are intermixed - Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms?: No separate area, we do have 4 dedicated psych rooms within the department - Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER?: Security is in house 24/7, however they are NOT housed in the ER. Marshfield PD is a quick call away as well, and they are always willing to help assist if there is a situation that warrants. - On average, how many patients do you treat/day?: 140-180 patients per day (24 hours) - Nurse: Patient Ratios: ER 1:3, UC 1:6 - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Chest pain, Abdominal pain, Sepsis, Syncope, Elevated heart rate, headache, suicide ideation patients - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Pediatric experience, ideal to have Cerner experience if possible, Level 1 or 2 trauma experience. Also ideal to have at least 2 years of ER experience - Common drips?: Heparin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nicardipine, norepinephrine - ED Physician/Mid-Levels: ED physicians, Mid-levels (PACs, NPs), and UC physicians - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?: Charge nurse (day shift usually does not take an assignment- night shift is dependent on how busy the department is, sometimes will take an assignment of patients) House Supervisor on 24/7 - Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters?: Always have 1 HUC on 24/7 they only do the HUC role during that time. Techs are scheduled starting 0700-0300 (they can do IVs, labs, blood cultures, EKGs, along with assisting patients with ADLS). Usually have 2 techs on at least during the busiest portions of the day. Paramedics are on staff as well, they are able to assist RNs in the care of the patients (give meds, discharge pts, procedural tasks etc.) - Is RT in the ER 24/7?: RT is not in the ER 24/7, but is available 24/7 and is in house. They do ABGs, breathing treatments, assist with intubations or critically ill patients that have respiratory concerns - RT Equipment & Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: RT equipment- Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow etc. RNs can help troubleshoot, but it is recommended to call RT to help assist with any issues - Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER?: No monitor techs. GE monitors in the ER and UC, RNs are expected to keep an eye on their patients/rhythms. There are many monitors with the rhythms displayed throughout the department including in the provider documentation area - X-Ray or CT in the ER?: Both Xray and CT within the department. We also have a transport team that operations 06-2100 - Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?: RNs draw labs, phlebotomy does blood cultures, unless they are unable to make it to the department within 20 minutes, then the RN or tech will draw the blood cultures - Shifts & Scheduling: We have an RN scheduler (no self scheduling, and typically no block scheduling unless we are able to accommodate with our regular staff scheduling, we make no promises). All shifts are 12 hours (05-1700, 07-1900, 08-2000, 09-2100, 10-2200, 11-2300, 15-0300, 17-0500, 19-0700). - Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend - Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday - Is there call or a standby requirement?: No "on-call." Occasionally a standby if traveler were to be low censused for a couple of hour prior to shift starting - Floating Requirements: Would only float to other units to be a patient sitter, or helping hands (would not be required to take a team of patients). Floating to other units do not occur very frequently, if at all. - Scrubs: Any solid color, clean & professional - Unit specific orientation: Orientation (consists of three days) Day 1- computer based trainings, department orientation, days 2 and 3 actually orientation on the unit with a RN preceptor *MUST note in submission if clinician has ever worked for Marshfield.
