- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of cardio-thoracic surgery experience required; 1+ years required for submission within specialty; strong open heart surgery background preferred (valve, bypass, ablation, ECMO, femoral cannulation, Impella, balloon pump insertion) 2. Cases: Cardio-thoracic surgeries primary; general and vascular cases (Carotid Endarterectomy, port-a-cath insertion) when floating; 2-4 cases per day 3. Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; travelers will be allowed to obtain certifications before starting 4. License: Valid NY State RN License required; must have at least applied if still pending; submit with recent Nursys 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required 7. Shifts/Call: Block scheduling; call required 7 days per schedule; 3-4 weekend shifts per contract depending on shift; float to general OR when needed 8. RTO: Preferred 7 days or less 9. Returning Staff: Permanent staff cannot return as a traveler within one year; after 3rd assignment, extensions allowed but at local rate 10. Travel/Local: 75-mile local radius; locals accepted at lower rate ($10 less) 11. Background: SSN/DOB required; Canadian travelers will not be cleared without SSN; international travelers cannot cross sooner than 10 days prior to start date; client will not clear with pending SSN or work authorization 12. Modules: Billable; Critical Care/ED — 6 hours; Med Surg RN — 3 hours; orientation minimum 3 hours, 6-hour max 13. Travel Experience: Preferred 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15.
