- Unit Notes:50 mile radius rule, no local rate, DL is source of truth PRESCREEN INTERVIEW IF CLINICAL RECOMMENDS, SEND TO MANAGER FOR 2ND INTERVIEW OR APPROVAL TO OFFER Day 1 PASS/FAIL EXAM: OR RNs: Foley catheter insertion only SIMs Lab: All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes, with the exception of NyICU & ED. NyICU only has to do Foley catheter insertion. ED does Foley catheter insertion but does port-a-cath insertion instead of central line dressing change. This is for travelers going to St. Joseph main campus &/or St. Joseph Westgate campus. NOTE - SIMs lab is pass/fail & nurses have been termed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field. Those travelers that understand sterile field typically pass SIMs Lab skills (See separate notes for the specific checklist IF traveler asks for additional details). The hospital expects that every nurse is competent in these areas, especially maintaining sterile field, as these are nursing skills that are performed frequently. NOTE: if a candidate indicates that they are not competent in either of these areas, they are probably not a good fit. In addition to SIMs Lab, they will also go through lifts, restraints, & wound care, but these are just educational based since the equipment & policies can be different facility to facility. Unit: CVOR Manager: Pam Blom # of Procedures - 6 OR's + 1 Hybrid OR Shifts - 4-10 hour shifts, 0630-1700 per week (Mon-Fri) Certs Required (RN) - BLS/ACLS, CNOR Preferred but not required Certs Required (Tech) - BLS, CST preferred EMR - Cerner/Surginet Cases per day - approx 7 per day, (max 15 per day) Weekend Requirements - 1 weekend of 1st call/month & 1 weekend of 2nd call/month possible. Holidays - possibly if on call Call - Mandatory 1-2 nights/week day and weekend as above. Floating - Yes General OR or BNI OR Charge Nurse - yes CSTs on Staff - yes Scrubs - Steel Blue Common Cases - open heart, Vascular, endo, thoracis, esophageal, general, hepatobiliary, transplants - lung, liver, and kidney. Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks Charting System:Cerner BSN Required:False License to Submit:Yes Trauma Level:1 Care Setting:Acute Division:Nursing Shift Notes:4, 10 hour days (0630-1700) with mandatory call.
