- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required (HARDSTOP); 1st time travelers accepted 2. Cases: Diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, various surgical recovery cases, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, failure to thrive 3. Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred; must pass EKG Testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license; pending OK for submittal 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic preferred; Pyxis for medications; charting system experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: Nights 1845-0715; 36 or 48 hours; 13-20 weeks accepted; no call requirement; float required (may float to main campus NHRMC, 32 minutes away); every other weekend required; self-scheduling; contract staff must be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters 8. RTO: 7 days MAX per contract (HARDSTOP); no holidays auto-approved; must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved; cannot request additional RTO after signing; no block schedules unless a weekend block 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying; disclosure required with hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed 10. Travel/Local: 50-mile rule; locals accepted at lower rate; travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; acute care approximately 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge; candidate must go into the lab within 48 hours after signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours 13.
