- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required for submission 2. Cases: COPD, PNA, respiratory distress, Covid-19, FLU, PE patients; high acuity med-surg with occasional PCU patients 3. Certifications: ACLS, BLS required; NIHSS preferred; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at start (pending OK for submission) 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights; float required to like units; 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks (may require more); no more than 5 days in row or 60 hours per week 8. RTO: 7 days max auto-approved (not on holidays); must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; RTO after booking not allowed 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months; facility rehire approval needed 10. Travel/Local: Under 50 miles offered lower local rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: 8-10 hours for acute care roles; non-billable; completed pre-start via online learning/Zoom/webinar/in-person 13. Travel Experience: Unit will accept first-time travelers 14. Special Equipment: Chest tubes, vents, trachs, bipaps/cpaps, cardiac drips (dopamine, cardizem, heparin) Critical: Must complete lab work within 48 hours of signing. Patient ratios 1:4-5 (up to 1:6 in extreme situations). 24-hour orientation required.
