- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required (18 months minimum per facility policy) 2. Cases: Level 1 Trauma, Vascular, Thoracic surgery cases including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Atherectomy, Atrial Septal defect repair, Cardiomyoplasty, Carotid Endarterectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, EVAR, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery, Mitral valve replacement, Pericardial window, Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery, TAVR, TEVAR, VAD, Heart & Lung Transplant, Valve Replacement, Aortic Dissection 3. Certifications: BCLS and NBSTSA required 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; IN RN licenses not allowed (except Periop/OR RNs are exempt) 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation 6. EMR: No specific charting required for IU health positions 7. Shifts/Call: 4x10 shifts 11:00-21:30; 90-120 hours of call in 6 week schedule; floating 100% required 8. RTO: Auto-approve 5 days non-holiday; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 9. Returning Staff: Former IU PERM/PRN employees must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract policy requires designated break after 12 months 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local; accepted for Surgical Services at lower rate; out-of-state requires 3 month break, in-state requires 6 month break for eligibility reset 11. Background: Must note background policy prior to submission to seek approval prior to offer 12. Modules: Not specified 13. Travel Experience: Required; first time travelers accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15.
