- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required; 18 months general experience requirement with unit-specific exceptions 2. Cases: Level 1 Trauma Center, Vascular, Thoracic Surgery Cases including specific procedures: Vascular pump line preparation, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Atherectomy, Atrial Septal defect repair, Cardiomyoplasty, Carotid Endarterectomy, CABG, EVAR, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery, Mitral valve replacement, Pericardial window, Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery, TAVR, TEVAR, VAD, Heart & Lung Transplant, Valve Replacement, Aortic Dissection. Core 5 requirement: must have 3/4 CV & PV 3. Certifications: BCLS and NBSTSA required 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses obtainable once permanent applications submitted. IN RNs not allowed except Periop/OR RNs, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at graduation 6. EMR: No specific charting required for IU Health positions; charting system experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12 Friday-Sunday 6:30-19:00; Call requirement 90-120 hours in 6-week schedule 8. RTO: Auto-approve 5 days non-holiday RTO; more requires facility approval; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; two pre-approved time off days 9. Returning Staff: PERM or PRN employees must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract policy requires break after 12 months 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local; accepted for Surgical Services, Allied, IU Clinics at lower rate; not accepted for MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, ER 11.
