- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 3 years required 2. Cases: General OR and Trauma experience required. Specific case experience required: Bariatric (Laparoscopic assisted cases), General Surgery (Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple), Neurology (Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion), Orthopedic (Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures), Plastic Surgery (Free Flap - Microvascular), Transplant (Organ donation), Urology (Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy), Trauma (Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA multiple injuries) 3. Certifications: BLS required, CNOR required; must be AHA and Red Cross only - RQI cards not accepted 4. License: Must have active IL license in hand at submission 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Cerner experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: On-call required 1/week; Weekend shifts Friday, Saturday, Sunday 0645-1915; 1 weekend shift per month required 8. RTO: All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by manager; can auto-approve 5 or less days of non-holiday RTO, anything more requires facility approval; candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 9. Returning Staff: Previous Perm/PRN candidates must be separated for 12 months before applying as traveler 10. Travel/Local: Must live at least 50 miles from facility to apply; locals not accepted for OR RN specialty 11. Background: Background check hits must be noted upon submission so approval can be sought prior to offer 12. Modules: Non-billable up to 16 hours, completed pre-start, renewed annually; strict deadlines - candidates will be pushed if not completed on time (4PM CST on Day 1); first day is virtual at-home day 13. Travel Experience: Yes, travel experience required; first-timers not accepted 14. Scrubs: Provided for this role 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical/Religious Exemptions Only 16. Special Equipment: Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables required Critical: Level I trauma experience required. Must work all service lines except CV. Compliance items (lab appointment, Docusigns, badge photo) must be completed within minimum 1 week of signing contract.
