- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years CVOR experience required 2. Cases: Aortic Valves, Mitral Valves, ASD, Redo Surgeries, Esophagogastrectomy, CABG with and without valve repair/replace, VATS, Thoracotomy, Mediastinoscopy, Mitral Clip, TAVR, Ascending Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Groin Exploration, Port a Cath Placement, Robotic Thoracic Surgery, Carotid Endarterectomy, IABP insertion and removal, Myxoma Removal, Pneumonectomy, Chamberlin Procedure, Tracheostomy, VSD 3. Certifications: BCLS required; CNOR preferred; must have circulate and scrub experience 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at time of start 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic is most common and preferred 7. Shifts/Call: 10-hour days Monday-Friday 0630-1700; call 10 days/month including one weekend/month; call every 3rd weekend 8. RTO: Auto-approve 7 days or less if not on holiday; anything more requires facility approval; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week due to orientation; RTO after booking not allowed 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying as traveler; rehire approval needed 10. Travel/Local: Candidates under 50 miles offered lower local rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Non-billable; acute care roles 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; recorded via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes 13. Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted 14. Scrubs: Provided by hospital 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical/Religious exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR Critical: Must go to lab within 48 hours after signing. Two manager/supervisor references from past 12 months highly preferred. Fatigue policy: cannot work more than 5 days in a row or 60 hours per week. 36-hour orientation required.
