- Unit Notes:***No first time travelers*** **Cerner required** Common Cases: Ortho: totals-knees, hips, shoulders; knee and shoulder scopes, TSAs (a lot); Urology-don't do many nephrectomies but everything else from cystos, ESWLs, TURPS, penile prothesis, orchiectomies, open prostates (not required); GYN-lots of hysters, D&C, slings, robotic hysters, a lot of GYN oncology, salphingooophrectomy; neuro- a lot of ortho spine, brain tumors, cranis, subdural hematomas, transsphenoidal tumors, VP shunts; hands, podiatry, DaVinci, vascular-a lot of small stuff AV fistulas, thrombectomies, carotids, endarterectomies, fem pops-open; general surgery-open, lap, robotics; ENT-tonsils, adenoids, pediatrics ENT, bariatrics, and eyes Experience or 'Must have' skills: Ortho, robotics (deal breaker if they do not have experience), neuro, gyn (SW) experience. Days or Nights? Days Weekends? May be call weekends Call? Yes Forced Call Requirement: If a staff member calls in sick or goes on a Leave of Absence (LOA) and a volunteer cannot be found to cover their shift, the unit will refer to a forced call list. The list operates on a rotation basis. Due to the nature of forced call this is a very rare occurrence. Weekly guaranteed hours? 40 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts depending on unit need at the time Certifications and licenses? BLS, ACLS Will need to be available to float between Mercy Hospital Downtown and Mercy Southwest Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks (Hospital may also pay full hours for a particular shift, in lieu of cancellation).
