- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 3 years required in a level 3 or 4 ICN; Do not send if less than 3 years NICU experience 2. Cases: Premature infants (as low as 22 weeks), all types of surgical infants, hypoxic injury 3. Certifications: BLS, NRP required 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at time of start 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic is most common and preferred 7. Shifts/Call: 36 hours only, 12-hour nights 18:45-07:15, no call required 8. RTO: 7 days max for auto approval (not on holidays); anything more requires facility approval; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO allowed during first week due to orientation 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying as traveler; must disclose previous employment 10. Travel/Local: Candidates under 50 miles offered lower local rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Non-billable; acute care roles 8-10 hours, non-acute roles 4-5 hours; completed pre-start and annually via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes 13. Travel Experience: Unit will accept first-time travelers 14. Scrubs: Navy blue or white 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - medical/religious exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, Giraffe Critical: Must complete lab work within 48 hours after signing. Float required to peds/PICU/nursery caring for infants up to 12 months. Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, 3 Sundays in 6-week period. Patient ratios 1:2-4.
