- Unit Notes:Department: Lab MLT/MT MLT Generalist with Phlebotomy * 50 mile radius for all travelers * We need a candidate with very strong phlebotomy skills as this is a requirement for night shift and can be up to 50% of the work on shift. We need a generalist, and NO blood bank experience is required. - Certs: MLT or MT certified: (CA requires CLS) - Do they need ASCP or AMT (American Medical Technologists)?: We require ASCP certification or equivalent. Require the MLT or MT. - What areas do they cover?: Hematology, serology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology (limited scope, culture set ups and molecular platforms primarily), phlebotomy-will do all phlebotomy on nights, point of care testing. Gram stain experience would be a plus. - Do they need to be a Generalist?: Yes, all areas except blood bank. If they have blood bank experience may let you double check or verify. - Do they need to perform Phlebotomy?: Definitely. Scope includes neonatal capillary and venous collections, blood cultures, venipunctures, and arterial blood gas (ABG not required, but definitely preferred). - Experience: Phlebotomy (see above), hematology (including manual differentials and body fluids-cell counts), microbiology/molecular, team work, able to get along with others, ability to multitask and be efficient in high volume work atmosphere. Would prefer prior travel assignment experience and having working in facilities similar in size and pace. - LIS System: Orchard Software. - EMR/Specific Equipment used in each area?: EMR: Epic. Hematology: Sysmex XN, ACL Top 350, Arkray Urinalysis. Chemistry: Roche Cobas 8000, Siemens Rapid Point. Microbiology: Bactec blood culture monitoring system. Molecular: Biofire TORCH, Cepheid Gene Xpert, Abbott ID Now. - Lab Manager/Supervisor: Terri Brown, Laboratory Director during the day and on call at night. - Lab Assistant: Clinical lab assistant and phlebotomists do some processing as well. - Shifts & Scheduling: 10 hr Nights - Weekend Requirements: Yes-every other weekend. - Holiday Requirements: Yes-as scheduled with regular schedule during contract. - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Solid colors only-preferred combination of Red and Black. Can wear a lab coat. - Department Specific Orientation: Training occurs during week one of contract: 40 hours on day shift to train, additional days added as needed, then move to contracted schedule.
