- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 1 year required; 18 months experience required per general facility policy 2. Cases: Hospital clinical laboratory required; Pediatrics and adolescents preferred 3. Certifications: ASCP MLS, MLT, or MT required; 2 supervisor references required 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses obtainable once permanent license applications submitted 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation 6. EMR: Cerner required; no specific charting required for IU health positions 7. Shifts/Call: Alternating shifts 14:00-22:30 & 23:00-07:30 Monday-Friday with rotating weekends every 3rd; second shift more frequent 8. RTO: Can auto-approve 5 days non-holiday RTO; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 9. Returning Staff: Any permanent or PRN employee must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract policy requires designated breaks after 12 months 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local; locals accepted at in-state rate with lower bill rate; out-of-state residents require 3-month break, in-state require 6-month break to reset eligibility 11.
