- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 1 year experience required; 2 years experience in MS required 2. Cases: Medical diagnoses (PNA, COPD, CHF, Diabetes, NSTEMI, CVA, TIA, Afib-flutter, Covid, Sepsis, UTI, Acute/Chronic Resp Failure, Failure to Thrive, Dementia); Surgical (Total joints, amputations, GI surgeries: Chole, appy, colectomies, Wound debridements) 3. Certifications: BLS required 4. License: VA or compact state must be in hand at time of submittal 5. Education: BSN preferred 6. EMR: Epic charting experience required 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12 nights; weekend coverage required; candidates will float within scope if needed 8. RTO: One pre-approved time off; RTO should be included at submission (will be approved by unit manager on WOC; no other guaranteed time off; no time off granted during first week of assignment) 9. Returning Staff: Both travelers and permanent staff must be gone for one year before being eligible to return as a traveler 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at same base rate; no radius rules for applicants 11. Background: Facility will review all background hits 12. Modules: All VCU candidates assigned modules during orientation on VCU Learning Exchange; non-billable, average 6 hours factored in NBO; completed during orientation, vary by specialty; required to be completed by Friday of orientation week 13. Travel Experience: Not required 14. Scrubs: VCU has a natural nail policy 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical/Religious Exemptions Only 16. Special Equipment: BiPAP/CPAP management/maintenance, Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Starting and maintaining IVs Critical: Patient ratio experience 4-6; orientation 24 hours; special procedures include chest tube insertions, paracentesis, thoracentesis; 2 references required; ER and Psych candidates require fingerprinting with 15-20 business day turnaround.
