- Unit Notes:***Oregon License Required - Can apply for the OR 90 Day Emergency License*** Profile Review - If recommended by our clinical team, the Unit Manager will call candidate for a phone interview. Unit L&D/PP/MB # of L&D Beds - 5 # of OR Suites - 1 within the unit, staffed by the main OR we don't scrub/circulate # of triage beds - 1 # of Postpartum beds - 3 in addition to the 5 LDRPs # of births per day, per year - Approx 340 annual deliveries (30-35/month on average) Do ratios follow AWHONN guidelines? - yes Required Certification - BLS, NRP Common diagnoses/Types of patients - We are not a high risk department Experience or 'Must have' skills - L&D, PP, routine nursery, Intermediate Nursey; Nurses must be able to be independent in all areas of care. There are always a minimum of 2 nurses present, sometimes 3. Each RN is the back up for the other. Strong skills are essential. Each RN is depended on equally. Are RNs required to titrate drips? - Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips - Pitocin induction/augmentation and insulin drips, Mag Sulfate Charge Nurse/House Supervisor - Charge nurse on unit. House Supervisor in house Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? - We have a CNA II unit secretary OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? - No but on call 24/7 OB's in house almost always with labor RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) - Vent (stabilize/transfer only) Bubble CPAP Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? - Central monitoring for fetal strips. Tele (maternal cardiac read by ICU staff) EFM System - FE Centriciy Perinatal Shifts & Scheduling - 12 hour shifts - Either 7a-7p or 7p-7a (We do block scheduling; trades are allowed) Weekend Requirement - EOW Holiday Requirement - 1 major, 1 minor if applicable Is there a call or standby requirement? - To be discussed Floating Requirements - To be discussed - Yes they are expected to float and be "helping hands" in other units Scrub Color/Dress code - Scrubs Provided Unit/Department specific orientation - yes - typically 3 shifts Unit Specific Information: We can be very busy at times and slow at others. Being able to jump from one task or assignment is essential. You may start the shift with 2 nurses and no labors and end the shift with 3 nurses, 2 labors and intermediate baby waiting transfer, and a couple fresh postpartum pairs.
