- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required 2. Cases: ICU stepdown patients, post rapid response team patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, post-op surgeries, pre/post OB with complications 3. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH certifications required 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at time of start 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights, every other weekend required, no call specified 8. RTO: 7 days maximum auto-approved if not on holiday; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week due to orientation 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying as traveler; facility rehire approval needed 10. Travel/Local: Under 50 miles offered lower local rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: 8-10 hours for acute care roles, non-billable, must be completed pre-start via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes 13. Travel Experience: Accepts first-time travelers 14. Scrubs: Navy, white, or combination of the two 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - medical/religious exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: Bedside telemetry monitors, A-lines, BIPAP, chest tubes, trachs (no vents on unit) Critical: Must be available for lab work within 48 hours of signing. Must pass EKG testing prior to start. Hospital orientation required week one. Float required to sister ICCU unit. Patient ratios 3:1 or 4:1. Strong drip experience mandatory for arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips.
