- NIH Stroke Scale Certification

- Unit Notes OSF ITEMS OF NOTE: - Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles (-$25 to regular and OT bill rates) - OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift - Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION: - Last four (4) digits of clinician's SSN - Clinician's middle initial - Requested time off - Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated - Your candidate understands OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and they must produce a negative drug screen for all panels Department: Neuro ICU | RN - # Beds: 18 - Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:2 - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Ventrics, strokes with/without TPA, cranis - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Ventriculostomy, NIH Stroke Scale Certification, Ventilators, Arterial lines, Central lines, tPA, Acute stroke management, post craniectomy. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Yes we titrate drips, this is an ICU so we will take any drips that the physician orders, they are not set rates all the time, but some may be- we follow the physicians orders; Too many different drips to name. - Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes; Sometimes (we try to staff for a free charge, but if staffing does not allow the charge will take a team). We also have a house supervisor 24/7. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes; 9:1. - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Yes - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Yes; Phillips monitors; yes nurses read and interpret strips; we staff a tele tech on every shift. - Shifts & Scheduling: 12's - Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend. - Holiday Requirements: Yes, Rotating every other holiday. - Is there a call or standby requirement?: N/A - Floating Requirements: Travelers float first. Being a higher level of care, our nurses can float to any unit in the hospital including intermediate & general floors. INT is a 1:3 ratio, on a general floor they would take 1:4. - Scrub Color/Dress Code: N/A - Unit/Department specific orientation: 20 hours (1-8hr shift and 1-12 hour shift).
