- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 3 years required; minimum 1 year experience required 2. Cases: Adult ER at Level 1 trauma center and teaching facility; trauma, burn, medicine, surgical, and psych cases 3. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, TNCC required 4. License: VA or compact state license must be in hand at time of submittal 5. Education: BSN preferred 6. EMR: Epic charting experience required 7. Shifts/Call: Every third weekend; candidates will float within scope if needed 8. RTO: Should be included at submission; approved by unit manager on WOC; no guaranteed time off; no time off during first week of assignment 9. Returning Staff: Both travelers and permanent staff must be gone for one year before being eligible to return as a traveler 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at same base rate; no radius rules for applicants 11. Background: Facility will review all background hits; fingerprinting required for ER candidates per Virginia code 37.1-183.3 12. Modules: All candidates assigned modules during orientation on VCU Learning Exchange; non-billable, average 6 hours factored in NBO; must be completed by Friday of orientation week 13. Travel Experience: Yes, travel experience required 14. Scrubs: Natural nail policy required 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Unknown 16. Special Equipment: Not specified Critical: Fingerprinting required with 15-20 business day turnaround; candidates cannot start with results pending. Two references required. 36 orientation hours. Daily census 60-80 patients with 1000 visits per day.
