Travel Nurse (RN) PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) Alexandria, VA

Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN - PACU

Shift: Variable, 9's/12's, 36 hrs per week

Length: 13 weeks

On-Call (2nd Call): Rotating 2nd Call commitment per 6-week period — 3 weekend/holiday shifts + 3 weekday shifts required. Call is self-scheduled within a structured rotation; agency staff sign up after core and PRN staff. Must be comfortable with on-call expectations.
Weekday call: 2100–0530 (8.5 hrs)
Weekend/holiday call: day 0800–2000 (12 hrs) or night 2000–0800 (12 hrs)
Holidays: Day before and possibly day after. Call rotation includes Inova-observed holidays.

Requirements:

VA License
Minimum 2 years PACU RN experience required
BLS, ACLS, PALS required (AHA)
Strong perianesthesia background preferred
Epic preferred

Other Details:

Float requirement: Must float to PreOp, ECT (preop/intraop/postop), and GI Endoscopy (preop and recovery only — standard perianesthesia duty; intraprocedural coverage is handled by dedicated GI Endo RNs)
Scrubs: OR Maroon scrubs in PACU, ECT, and Endoscopy. Maroon OR attire/Navy Inova scrubs when assigned to PreOp. OR attire provided on campus
Unit: PACU has 13 bays (10 Phase 1, 3 Phase 2). Nurses care for patients in PreOp, Phase 1, and Phase 2 depending on patient needs.
Ratios: Phase 1 — 2:1 | Phase 2 — 3:1
Common cases: Total joint arthroplasty, spine, orthopedic sports medicine, general surgery, vascular, plastics, urology, ENT, ECT, GI endoscopy
Population served: Inpatient and outpatient surgical patients across multiple specialties. Pediatric patients age 10+ (PALS required). Peds experience helpful, not required. Trauma/critical care experience not required.
