Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN - Interventional Radiology
Shift: Days, 7a-3p, M-F, 8x5, 40hrs per week
May be on call for the Interventional Unit as the need arises
Duration: 13 weeks
Requirements:
- OR RN License
- 3 years of experience required
- At least 1 year experience in critical care, emergency, cath lab, or IR required
- IV certification required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required
- ACLS (American Heart Association) required
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required; evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level and area of practice
- At least 3 years of experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab preferred
- Conscious sedation training preferred
- Monitor role experience preferred
- RCIS preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale preferred
- BSN desired
- Bilingual / English-Spanish speaking preferred
Other Details:
- Provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing invasive interventional procedures such as angiography, embolization, cardiac catheterization, and other minimally invasive interventions
- Works collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care using the nursing process, established standards of care, policies, and procedures
- Acts as patient advocate and is responsible for direction and supervision of personnel assigned
- Nursing/Circulator role: administer medications including anticoagulants, vasoactive agents, contrast, and emergency drugs; maintain sterile technique; recognize and rapidly respond to complications (arrhythmia, bleeding, contrast reaction, stroke alerts, cardiac arrest)
- Contrast allergy management: collaborate with Rad Tech and physicians to identify/address contrast allergies; participate in pre-procedure discussions on appropriate contrast agents; ensure allergy considerations communicated during timeout
- Moderate sedation role: verify ASA classification, consult anesthesia for ASA IV or greater, provide moderate sedation per protocol, monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, oxygenation, ventilation, and level of consciousness
- Scrub role: function as scrub technologist using sterile technique; prepare/organize sterile instruments, guidewires, catheters, sheaths, embolic materials, and procedural trays; familiarity with vascular anatomy, device sizing, catheter selection, and table-side flow
- Monitor role: function as primary monitor technologist recording hemodynamic data, pressures, and procedural events; operate/troubleshoot physiological monitoring systems (hemodynamic recorders, ECG, oxygen saturation); document supplies, implants, contrast usage, and procedural details
- Peri-procedure support: patient preparation/positioning, connecting monitoring equipment; verify allergies, NPO status, renal function; perform patient identification, procedure verification, timeout; perform sheath pulls and vascular access management
- Department support: manage supplies/par levels, restocking, tracking expiration dates, room turnover, post-procedure cleanup, device cleaning/charging/storage
- Reports to the Unit Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, or RN Team Leader
- Ability to provide age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial care; ability to work with a culturally diverse population
