Job Description

Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN – ICU 2NW

Shift:  Nights / 7p-7a, 12×3, 36hrs per week, EOW, EOH, No On call

Length: 13 Weeks

Requirements:

  • WA License
  • 2 years’ experience
  • BLS, ACLS
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Art line preferred

Other Details:

  • may float to TELE, Telemetry 2EW, Med-Surg, Neurology-Medical
Patient Types:
CHF, Respiratory distress, ACS, A-fib RVR, DM, blood product administration, bipap, CVA overflow, post-cath patients – will see TR bands and the femoral approach; can see femoral sheaths but travelers will not pull them
Some surgical patients – vascular, abdominal, GI, etc.
Drips: diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitro, heparin – required
Patient Ratios:
ICU: Typically 2:1, sometimes 1:1 depending on patient acuity
2NW or Tele: 4:1 during the day, 4-5:1 @ night

Support on the Unit:
CNA: 1:6 for days, 1:10 for nights
Receptionist/HUC: 0700-2300
Charge nurse: No assignment but oversees ICU as well and will respond to codes and RRT
Phlebotomy: 24/7 for peripheral lab draws
IV/VAT Team? 0700-2300
Hospitalist? On site 24/7
Telemetry monitoring tech? Telemetry tech 24/7. RNs must review and chart on telemetry strips.
Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC
IV pumps: Hospira Plum A
Medication dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Draeger (switching to Phillips by end of 2023)      
Travelers will be first to float
Scrub Color: Any color, professional
Parking: Employee parking only, lot free

Intensive care unit travel nurse jobs, otherwise known as critical care unit (CCU) travel nurse jobs, specialize in providing care to the most acutely ill patients in the hospital. An ICU travel nurse might work in ICU burn unit, abdominal transplant acute care, neuro ICU, post-op, surgical ICU (SICU), trauma ICU or cardiovascular ICU (CVICU). Critical care nurses may also care for age-specific patients in the pediatric ICU (PICU) or neonatal ICU (NICU). Aside from clinical care such as skills with ventilators and tracheostomy tubes, travel ICU nurse jobs need a RN who can deliver progress updates and support to patients and/or their family.
