Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN – Labor & Delivery
Shift: Nights / 7p-7:30a, 12×3, 36 hrs/week, every other weekend
Length: 8 weeks
Requirements:

- ACLS, BLS, NRP

Seeking 10 Labor & Delivery RNs to work night shift ASAP (RNs are to work every other weekend). This would be for 3x12s. Facility would like candidates to begin as early as 1/27 but an absolute must by 2/10.

Unit Info:
Patient Diagnoses: The Labor and Delivery unit serves women in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum period. Patients who have a pregnancy = 20 weeks or are = 6 weeks postpartum are seen for evaluation and treatment. Women < 20 weeks may be evaluated on Labor and Delivery if the admission is considered by the attending obstetrician in collaboration with nursing leadership and recommended by the emergency room attending physician. The transfer/ readmission of postpartum patients for magnesium sulfate therapy.
Special Procedures/Unit Details: The Labor and Delivery unit staff provides comprehensive care to the obstetrical patient using an interdisciplinary approach. Obstetrical procedures that may be performed on the Labor and Delivery unit include, but are not limited to vaginal delivery, cesarean section, operative vaginal delivery, cerclage placement/removal, external cephalic version and obstetrical ultrasound. Care of the high-risk antepartum patient is also provided including but not limited to those with hypertension, diabetes, preterm labor, vaginal bleeding, multiple gestation, and any other pregnancy complications. Continuous, centralized maternal/fetal monitoring is available for all patients. There is 24-hour coverage of a dedicated obstetric anesthesia team, available to provide to meet the anesthesia needs of the laboring and surgical patients

– Antepartum Care and Procedures: NST (Non Stress Tests), Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus, Triage of obstetrical patients, Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
– Fetal Monitoring: Spiral Electrode Placement, Use of External Fetal Monitoring, Use of Internal Fetal Monitoring, Use of IUPC (Intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration, Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
– IV therapy/Phlebotomy: Administration of blood & blood products, Drawing Venous Blood, Start & maintain peripheral IV, Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring
– Medications & Administration: Anticoagulants, Anticonvulsants, Antihypertensives, Insulin drips, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins, Terbutaline
– Labor & Delivery Management: Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Assist with vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-section, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover C-Section
– Neonatal Care in Delivery Room: APGAR scores, Baby Nurse (“Baby Catcher”), ID/Security Banding, Neonatal Resuscitation, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation
– Newborn Care: Infant Identification, Newborn Assessment, Newborn hypoglycemia
– Pain Management: Epidural Anesthesia, General Anesthesia, Pain assessment & management, Use of PCA (IV)
– Postpartum Care and Procedures: Baby friendly protocols, Breastfeeding Support/lactation support, Foley Catheter insertion, Fundus/lochia/perineum care
– Postpartum Care of the Patient with: Vaginal Delivery, Cesarean Section, Couplet Care, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Postpartum Hemorrhage
– Professional Topics and Skills: Isolation Precautions/PPE
– Surgical Case/Procedures: Cervical Cerclage, D & C, Tubal Ligation
