Job Description

Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN – CVICU

Shift: Nights / 7p-7a (12×3) 36 hours per week

Length: 13 Weeks

Scheduling requirements: 2 weekends/month, 1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day), 2 Winter Holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day)

Requirements:

  • TN license
  • 2 years experience
  • Skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required
  • Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT

Other Details:

  • Documentation system: Meditech
  • Floating policy: C/L employees float as needed, typically to other ICU’s but can include other floors
Number of Beds : 16
Patient Ratios : 1:2, 1:1 for certain device patients
Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : Free floating charge nurse to assist staff. Unit secretary and Administrative Care Tech M-F 0730-1530. Student Nurse Externs on variable shifts that assist nurses by performing tech duties
Type of equipment : Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, Alaris IV pumps
Patient Experience requirements: None specific
Procedures performed on unit: Provide care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADS. Perform central line insertion, swan insertion, intubations, etc. on unit

Cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) travel nurse jobs provide care to acutely ill patients who are recovery from cardiothoracic (CTICU) conditions or events, such as open heart surgery, AAA repairs and CABC. A CVICU travel nurse must be capable of administering care on a full spectrum, from clinical tasks such as medical history analysis and diagnostic testing, to personal care such as counseling patients and family regarding home-care and wellness. Overall, the CVICU nurse treats some of the most acutely ill patients in the hospital, and must do so safely and compassionately.
